INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S EXCHANGE - COOKERY EVENING
We organise a monthly meeting for women to promote social and cultural exchange and help newcomers settle in. All women with an international background can attend this event and it is held in English and German. The topics are very diverse and Children are welcome.
This time we are going to prepare a vegetarian dish together and eat this afterwards. Every participant can also bring a typical snack from their home country for everybody to try if they so desire.

PLANETARIUM - "CHAOS & ORDER - A MATHEMATIC SYMPHONY"
We are going to visit the music show "Chaos & Order – A Mathematic Symphony" at the planetarium in Bochum. Does mathematics have a colour, does it make a sound? Visualisation artist Rocco Helmchen and composer Johannes Kraas want to answer these questions and many more during this show by presenting the poetic dimension of a science. Just like during all shows at the planetarium, you will be able to lean back in the comfy armchairs and enjoy looking up at the starry sky.

WELCOME AND FAREWELL RECEPTION
Rector Prof. Dr. Elmar Weiler welcomes all new international researchers at this reception. At the same time we would like to take the opportunity to say farewell to all those researchers whose stay will soon be at an end. In addition to the warm words of welcome from the Rector, an international researcher will also report on their personal experience of their first days at RUB.
Afterwards you will have the chance to get to know other researchers over coffee, tea and cake. You will find lots of useful information at our info tables. Visit us with all your questions about your stay in Germany, Bochum and at RUB.

GASOMETER AND LUDWIGGALLERIE SCHLOSS OBERHAUSEN
The world-famous artist Christo is coming to Germany again in 2013 with an unusual art project. This time he will fill the Oberhausen Gasometer with his “Big Air Package”. Made from 20350 m² of translucent fabric and 4500 meters of rope, the sculpture is not only visible from outside, but also accessible to visitors. The “Big Air Package” will be accompanied by an exhibition of some of Christo's greatest projects.
Afterwards we will travel to the LUDWIGGALERIE Schloss Oberhausen. Here you will have the choice between visiting the current exhibition, taking a walk through the castle grounds and petting zoo or visiting the Lesecafé.

INFO AFTERNOON - INTERNATIONAL TAX LAW
An information afternoon in cooperation with RUB's faculty of law for international researchers, their families and hosts at RUB as well as for everybody interested.
Our referee will be Jörg Müller, holder of a graduate degree in business and economy who studied economic science as well as economy and tax law. Furthermore he is still working closely together with the chair of tax law and is working as a tax consultant. After an introduction and presentation about the subject there will also be time for a discussion with the expert.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S EXCHANGE - POTTERY PAINTING "MADY BY YOU"
We organise a monthly meeting for women to promote social and cultural exchange and help newcomers settle in. All women with an international background can attend this event and it is held in English and German. The topics are very diverse.
We are going to visit the “Made by you” store in Bochum and paint various pieces of pottery. “Made by You” is now well-known in many European countries and there are a number of shops in Germany, Poland, Austria, Hungary and Romania. Every participant will receive a piece of pottery which they can take home. All colours are harmless, making it possible for children to also take part.

Traders from the most diverse regions of Europe come to this market in Bochum to present the goods they have to offer. We are looking forward to visiting the market with you, where you will be able to sample many products and find new and well-known products from many countries.
You can also visit the market by yourself on another occasion, as it will take place in the city centre between 22 and 25 May.

The Uni Summer Fête has been taking place for many years on a regular basis on RUB's campus and is very popular amongst students, staff and visitors from outside. The event consists of many activities, a music programme, a number of stalls, international culinary offerings and a large firework display. CAMERA OBSCURA MÜHLHEIM
The Camera Obscura is the original form of the camera and video camera we know today and is part of the museum of “Prehistory of Film” located in Mühlheim. This museum demonstrates the function of the old camera and has exhibitions on the topic “Prehistory of Film”. Many exhibits are on display over a total of 5 floors and in an accessible dome, and you will have the chance to
try out many things yourself. Shadow shows, kaleidoscopes and much more invite you to try out the functions of the camera yourself and learn about the development of film and photography from 1750 – 1930. There is also a lot on offer for children.

INFORMATION DAY "FAMILY"
We would like to invite all international researchers who have come to Bochum with their families to our information day. A research stay abroad often involves the whole family, and researchers have to face everyday challenges in addition to working on their research project. We offer you various information on all kinds of topics such as emergencies, health and safety, leisure time, travelling by car and public transport, shopping, formalities and family at RUB, and we are glad to answer any questions you may have. A children's programme will take place at the same time.
A presentation on the topic “Everyday Life and Family Life in Bochum” will take place between 2:00 and 3:00pm. In order to help us plan for the event, we kindly request you to register your children if they will be taking part in the event.

We organise a monthly meeting for women to promote social and cultural exchange and help newcomers settle in. All women with an international background can attend this event and it is held in English and German. The topics are very diverse.
We have invited yoga instructor Barbara Steyer for a 90 minute workshop. She has been teaching yoga in Bochum since 2006 and offers various classes at „Namsté - Raum für Yoga und Gesundheit“. She will offer us a yoga starter session and introduce us to the different yoga poses. Children are also welcome to attend and can join in if they like.

OPEN-AIR MUSEUM IN HAGEN
“Fire, water, hammer blow” – This is the name of the tour we are going to take through the Westphalian Open-Air Museum in Hagen to learn more about craftsmanship and technology from times past. Sixty workshops have been rebuilt and reconstructed to show visitors what life was like from the late 18th century till the beginning of the 20th century. Most of the workshops are operable for display purposes. There is a lot to see and experience. There is also a lot for children to discover.

BUS & BOAT TOUR
Our tour to the most popular places in Bochum begins at the university and takes us to Lake Kemnade where we will get off the bus and onto a boat. During the boat tour across Lake Kemnade you can enjoy the view with a coffee or tea and a waffle. Afterwards we will continue our tour by bus and finish back on campus. The bus tour will take us past numerous points of interest, features of
industrial heritage and green surroundings in Bochum.
