Before leaving Bochum

There are some things you need to do before you leave Bochum. This page aims to help you prepare for your departure.

Terminate your registration at RUB (Exmatrikulation)

You can terminate your registration at the Registrar's Office (UV Building).

  1. Fill in the form to cancel your registration at RUB (Forms are available in the foyer of the main administration building or can be downloaded from this page on the right)
  2. Take your student card (you will get it back at the end of the process)

Please note: Any books have to be returned to the library before you terminate your registration!

Transcript of academic records

You can get the form from the International Office or download it from this page. Please bring the certificates you have obtained from your courses, signed by a representative of your faculty. Fill in the Transcript of Academic Records and have it signed by your tutor from your faculty. If you cannot obtain all certificates before your departure, please arrange for them to be sent to your home address.

Confirmation of attendance

You can gain confirmation that you attended RUB from the International Office up to three days before your departure.

Cancel your health insurance policy

If you are insured with a German health insurance provider, you need to cancel the policy before you leave Bochum. Please visit your insurance provider to do this and take proof that you have terminated your registration at RUB, a copy of your return ticket back to your home country or proof that you have cancelled your registration at the Resident Registration Office.

Close your bank account

Visit your bank to close your account. Remember to take your bank card and passport with you.
