German Language Courses
GERMAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (DaF)
The department of German as a Foreign Language, otherwise known as DaF, is part of Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). You can take DaF courses are addressed to different target groups such as students or researchers. You can participate in preparatory courses when you arrive in Germany to prepare you for your stay, and you also have the opportunity to attend courses during term-time to further improve your German language skills. The courses offered by the department of German as a Foreign Language prepare you for your “TestDaF” which is a language proficiency test. If passed, this test qualifies you to study at a university in Germany.

interculturas e.V. works with RUB‘s AStA and the “Bildungswerk politisch-kultureller Zentren (BIZ)“, offering German language courses to learners from all countries. These courses aim to teach university-level German to international students wishing to begin or continue their studies in Germany. The intermediate courses prepare participants for the German language university entrance examination, known as the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang", DSH).

Projekt Deutsch Lernen
The "Projekt Deutsch Lernen" (pdl) was established 30 years ago and its goal is to teach international students the necessary German language skills that are required to be able to study in Germany. Motivated teachers will prepare you excellently for the German language university entrance examination (“Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang", DSH) in a pleasant atmosphere. There are also courses to prepare you for the TestDaF or other German language proficiency tests.
The courses offered by "Projekt Deutsch Lernen" take place in the IZB in Dortmund city centre.

Auslandsgesellschaft Intercultural Academy
The "Auslandsgesellschaft Intercultural Academy" offers international guests and German repatriates German language courses and integration courses. You can choose between intensive language courses taking place on a daily basis and weekly evening courses, and you have the chance to improve your language skills in private lessons or group sessions. There are preparatory courses for the following language proficiency tests: TestDaF, DSH and the German proficiency test set by the Goethe-Institut. They also offer a special course for people in the medical profession called "Deutsch für Mediziner“.
The "Auslandsgesellschaft Intercultural Academy" is located in Dortmund near the main train station.

Studienkolleg des Ökumenischen Studienwerkes e.V.
The "Studienkolleg des Ökumenischen Studienwerks" in Bochum offers preparatory courses for those about to begin technical, mathematical and scientific degree courses, and German language courses for university applicants who would like to start studying in Germany as soon as they have the necessary language skills. The aim of the course is to prepare participants for the final language proficiency examination for university admission, known as the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang", DSH).
The Studienkolleg in Bochum is located on a small “campus” near the U35 metro station “Markstraße” and also has accommodation for students and staff.

Volkshochschule Bochum
The Volkshochschule (VHS) Bochum offers language courses and integration courses. They prepare you for naturalisation tests and certificate examinations. There is also a course which is especially aimed at teaching business German called “Deutsch für den Beruf“.
Courses with the VHS Bochum take place in the “Bildungs- und Verwaltungszentrum (BVZ) “, near the U35 metro station “Rathaus“.
